Next week I have a busy weekend booked in Asbury Park, NJ.  After I get done working on guitars at Russo Music all week, I'll be going into Little Eden Studios with Pete Steinkopf from The Bouncing Souls to record my third album.  The only thing I can reveal about it at the moment is that it will be a solo recording, as in no band.  For the past year I've been riding around playing shows here and there without a band and it's time to have an album reflect that time.

Next Saturday (3/24) at Asbury Lanes, I will be opening a show for Kevin Seconds, Kepi Ghoulie, and Franz Nicolay.  If you're into acoustic-punk-rock-dude shows, then this show is for you!

I've got one more acoustic-dude show to announce, but I've got to wait to tell you.  When I see that tumble weed go by and hear the voice of Sam Elliot to say, "Go on son, tell the people what you got", I'll let you know.

NEW MUSIC

Right now shows are being booked for 2012 and songs are being written.  Songs for a new Brian McGee release and songs for a new Plow United record are being demo'd and emailed around so we know what to do come recording time.  

My next solo record is going to be stripped down and pretty minimal.  I've done two band records that reflect my time spent in Asheville, NC.  But since my tour last summer with PJ Bond, I've mostly been playing solo and acoustic, and I think it's time to have a release reflect this period.  If all goes as plans (knock on wood) I'll start in on recording the next solo record in late March.  My aim is to have it out by late summer on vinyl and digital download.

PLOW UNITED back at FUC for first time in 15 years! 

The next Plow United show that we are super excited about will take place at The First Unitarian Church (FUC) in Philadelphia on June 23rd with The Orphans, Spraynard and Iron Chic.  Tickets went on sale yesterday and you can click here to purchase your's today!  For those of you who missed it, Plow United played it's farewell show in the summer of 1997 at FUC.  It was hot, it was fun, it was kind of sad and it was a long time ago... damn.

We will be rehearsing next week for our show at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ w/ The Bouncing Souls, Leftover Crack and Detournement on 12/30.  The show is part of the Home For The Holidays series and SOLD OUT!

The other show we are getting ready for is our New Years Eve show at The Note in West Chester, PA!  We will be playing with three bands from the 90's who are reuniting for this show-The Crash, Jake & The Stiffs, and Third Year Freshman.  DJ Arik Victor will be spinning tunes as well.  Tickets for The Note can be purchased here:

Joel, Sean and I (plow united) have also been writing and demoing new songs for the next Plow United record.  We will be playing some of these new songs at our year-end shows.  To say we are excited about making another Plow United record is a total understatement.

In solo news-I'll be playing a set at Ray's Happy Birthday Bar on January 3rd.  And there is also a show in the works for January 12th at The Stanhope House in Stanhope, NJ.  These shows will feature new solo songs as well as new Plow United songs.

Well yeah, Lo and Behold I'm heading out on the road again.  With PJ Bond again to!  PJ and I are touring our way down to FEST 10 in Gainesville, FL.  We are making several stops along the way in VA, SC, NC and so on.

-I took a job at Russo Music in Asbury Park, NJ as a guitar tech.  I'm apprenticing under Scott Engel of The Holy Mess.

-On September 8th, I opened for The Horrible Crowes which is a side project of Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem) and his longtime friend Ian Perkins.  The show was at the Bowery Ballroom and sold out!  Here is a review of the show (with photos) from theaudioperv.com.  It was a total blast to play to a New York crowd of 600 people.

-Plow United reheasing has begun!  We are playing a festival this weekend called RIOT FEST EAST at Festival Pier in Philadelphia.  Joel and I have been going over songs and rearranging a few to perform on the radio as a duo.   Last Sunday we played live on Drexel University's station WKDU.  And this Thursday you can listen to our performance at WXPN on The Key.  Joel and I also got together with Mike Bardzik (Super Hi Five, The Boils) at his studio Noisy Little Critter, to run through out Riot Fest set list before Sean gets into town from Oregon. 

-Plow United is also releasing a DOUBLE VINYL and CD called SLEEPWALK : A RETROSPECTIVE on Paper + Plastick records out of Gainesville, FL.  It is a collection of songs from all three full length records plus singles and an unreleased instrumental track.  The limited edition CD will be available at Riot Fest.  The vinyl will be released in October.  And we are also working on another album for next fall!

-Plow United is playing New Years Eve at The Note in West Chester PA.  The line-up includes THE CRASH, JAKE & THE STIFFS (both of whom are reuniting for the show), TWO DAYS AGO I TURNED PUNK ROCK (Tom Martin) and DJ'ing by Arik Victor.  Tickets go on sale this Sunday at noon!

For my solo shows-I will be heading down to FEST 10 in Gainesville FL at the end of October.  I'll be touring down and back with PJ Bond.

This summer has been rolling along with some pleasant surprises and it's going to end with big goodbye.  So here is what's happening:

Reunions:  While I was on tour with PJ Bond this past June (which by the way was awesome) I received a phone call asking if my old punk band, Plow United (facebook,twitter) wanted to play a reunion show in Philadelphia on September 24 during the one day Riot Fest East festival.  The festival's headlining bands are The Descendents, X, and The Dead Milkmen.  If any of you know these bands, then you understand what a big deal this show is.  If you don't know those bands, the show is a big deal.  So after working out the details and talking it over, we agreed that the timing was right and we got on board.  We are really looking forward to playing together for the first time in 13 years and we are talking about writing new songs.  This is going to be fun.

Moving:  My wife and I are leaving the Old North State.  We will be moving to the Garden State known as New Jersey.  Graduate school calls and my wife answered and no it's time to go.  I've lived in Western NC for 11 years and I will miss this great state.  We were reminded what a great place it is geographically this past weekend when we drove from mountains to sea... cardinal to pelican.... dogwood to palm.  We leave in August right after I play a 

Farewell show:  On Saturday August 20, 2011 I will be playing a farewell show at The Grey Eagle.  I will be playing with full band and will do some solo stuff.  Also playing the show and sitting in on my set will be The Electric Owls and PJ Bond.  This will be a great way to play my last show as a NC resident at my favorite venue in Asheville.
